About
Hi, I’m Jamie Harrell.
Dia Dhuit, Jamie Harrell is ainim dom.
The story of me is, in many ways, the same as the story of this website. It has been broken repeatedly, and glued back together into what is hopefully a better arrangement of the pieces than it once was.
I break things. I make things too, but I really enjoy breaking things. I’m one of those individuals that firmly believes that unless you’ve broken something, you can’t possibly understand how to fix it and how it works at the most fundamental level. It’s the reason I developed the love I did for technology, as it was never good enough for me to accept that a computer sat on my desk and did stuff. I wanted to know why it did what it did, and more importantly, how it did it. It’s this passion and addiction that drives me forward today. There’s not a system out there that I won’t learn given the chance, and that keeps me open minded about the ever changing field I am a part of.
I’m a huge nerd. My beautiful wife and I decorate our humble abode with travel posters from our favourite fantasy and sci-fi locale, we collect and play many board games, we attend our local con from time to time, and we regularly watch and rewatch our favourite TV shows..
I ramble on about various bits over at my blog, and I socialize on Twitter and Mastodon. In my spare time (what of it there is), I am a true gamer at heart enjoying titles like Diablo 3, World of Warcraft, and whatever else I can find of interest on Steam. I also love music, which is never far from me.
A native of the Pacific Northwest, I am currently a permanent resident in Halifax, Nova Scotia where I moved shortly after marrying my lovely wife, Erin, in September 2011. We carry out our lives ever mindful of our true overlords, the cats of the household, Violet and Sasha.
